How it works

Estimate calories burned for any workout using MET values. Equil logs the real thing automatically from Apple Health.

This estimate uses activity, weight and duration through standard MET values, so sex is not needed for a solid estimate.

Where Equil comes in

This is a static estimate. Equil tracks it automatically and adjusts in real time as you eat, train, sleep and recover.

Frequently asked questions

How many calories do I burn a day?

Most adults burn 1,600 to 3,000 kcal a day in total, most of it just staying alive and moving, not exercise. Formal workouts are often a smaller slice than people expect.

Does my watch overstate calories burned?

Often yes. Wrist trackers can overestimate exercise burn by 20 to 40 percent, which is why eating back all those calories can stall fat loss.

Should I eat back exercise calories?

If you are cutting, usually no. Exercise burn is easy to overestimate, so eating it back often erases your deficit. Set a target and hold it.
